“Dear Darla, I hate your stinking guts. You make me vomit. You’re scum between my toes! Love, Alfalfa.” Nicknamed Bug by his family, he was born in Fort Worth Texas. He is the second oldest child in his family. He is best known as a popular child actor in the 1990s. He became an overnight star due to his role as Alfalfa and his He-Man Woman Haters Club. He said that his favorite memory of the film was really “all the stuff at the clubhouse was a blast,” he recalled. “They actually built the thing on a hill overlooking Dodger Stadium. As a kid, it seemed so grand and magical.”
Career
He portrayed Alfalfa in the 1994 film The Little Rascals. He and five others received the Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Youth Ensemble in a Motion Picture. The film was directed by the same director of Wayne’s World. When Hall learned that he said “my mind was blown temporarily, it also made a lot of sense. Both movies have a wonderful sense of comedic timing and framing and are just such a joy to watch.”
After the film, he appeared in The Stupids as well as the soccer kid comedy, The Big Green. In 1996, he was nominated for a YoungStar award for his work as Eddie Munster in the film, The Munsters’ Scary Little Christmas. He also voiced the little boy in Disney’s Hercules in 1997. In 1998, he played Scout Bozell in Safety Patrol.
He later played Adam Szalinski in Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves. He continued to act as a teenager and young adult. He was in many direct to DVD films such as Skipped Parts and a Disney Channel film, Get a Clue with Lindsey Lohan. He also guest stared in many television shows such as Charmed, CSI, Strong Medicine, Cold Case: Justice, Criminal Minds, Providence (with his Little Rascals co-star, Ross Bagley) and 90210.
He landed the role of Arthur Davidson in the Discovery Channel miniseries, Harley and the Davidsons. “[Harley and the Davidsons] was a dream come true. It literally brought me out of a mini retirement,” Hall said. The show brought him out of a mini retirement he said and refueled his love of acting.
Personal Life
He skipped high school to work more on acting. He never believed in acting classes though.
He enjoys riding motorcycles. He has been in at least 10 accidents in his motorcycle, and still continues to ride. He lives on the wild side. “I didn’t ever drive a car until a few years ago,” Hall admitted. “I’ve been cross country 10 plus times, then halfway cross country 40 times or so.
He is also into philosophy and tweets his beliefs to his followers often.
He married Porchia Stewart in 2012, they later divorced. In 2017, he married Jill de Groff. They are Roman Catholic and have two daughters together, Josephina & Therese. “I have never felt so much good in my life as when I’m with this woman whom is soon to be my bride, and that is the lesser good of love, because I have also never been a better man than the one I am with her,” he captioned a selfie with DeGroff. “THAT is true love. I will never cease to grow each day to be the man that she deserves.”
He has remained friends with Zachary Mabry who played Porky. He even was a groomsman in Hall’s wedding. “When you get old and realize that we are part of a lot of people’s nostalgia, that’s a powerful thing.”
He is proud that he was able to escape temptations in Hollywood and never suffered from any form of addiction. He has had a grounded lifestyle. “I spent most of my life on the bike.”
